Mike Flinchbaugh

Instructional Coach

After teaching English for thirteen years, I have taken on a new challenge: instructional coach. In this position, my responsibility is to improve student achievement by helping to improve instructional effectiveness at Rose High School. How? By working closely with teachers on writing lesson plans, implementing classroom management techniques and utilizing effective instructional strategies. I will also facilitate some of our school’s staff development and assist departments as they analyze benchmarking, test preparation, and EOC data.

Personal

I grew up in York, Pennsylvania. I earned my B.A. in English Education
at James Madison University in Virginia and my M.A. in English/Rhetoric
and Composition at East Carolina University. ECU led me to Rose. Rose
led me to my wife Kerri. Kerri and I have one son named Elliott.

I have taught junior high and high school English, including sections
paideia English II and AP English Language and Composition. My high
school experiences also include theater arts, creative writing, and
journalism. I have also taught writing and education courses at Pitt
Community College and ECU.
